Youth Group Scoop

We at Bible Christian Church want to encourage parents to take an active role in instructing and encouraging their children in the faith of our Lord Jesus Christ. I know my kiddos look to a structure as a way to tell that everything is okay. With that mindset, we set this post up the same way we would be having class on Wednesday night. I listed the songs we would be singing, the lesson we would be learning, and the video we would be watching. Share faith is wonderful with the curriculum. You can pick and choose what you want to teach or you can go step by step. As we start another chapter of this ministry my prayer is that we surrender to His will, take a moment to breathe, and search His word for our next step.

Our Lesson this week:

God saved the Israelites from the Egyptians through a series of miracles. God later saved all of humanity through the sacrifice of His Son, Jesus.
1. Grace: We have done nothing to deserve God’s love, and yet He gives it freely. Despite our sin, He sent His precious Son to die in our place. Through God’s grace and our faith in Jesus, we are saved.
2. Deliverance: As humans, we sin. Jesus came to free us from our slavery to sin. Because of Jesus’ sacrifice, sin no longer controls our actions and our future. Our faith in Jesus and help from the Holy Spirit helps us to resist the temptation to sin.
3. Rebirth: Jesus’ sacrifice restored our relationship with God. God no longer sees us as sinners, but as His perfect creation again. Jesus’ sacrifice made it so that our belief in Him makes us new creations. Because of Jesus, we are forgiven, holy, clean, and righteous.

Looking ahead this month we will be celebrating Easter. Easter is a time to celebrate being with family, the newness of spring, and the true meaning of the holiday — the resurrection of Jesus Christ. There’s so much more to Easter than the pink bunnies and cute yellow ducklings (although, we can’t help but love those, too!) A great way to keep in mind the spirit and meaning of the holiday is by reading the book of John. I encourage your family to sit apart a time each day to read a section of the book of John during the next couple of weeks. The passages will reflect on the lessons, sacrifices, and hope of new life with Jesus that his resurrection promises.

Our Closing Prayer:
Dear Heavenly Father, thank You for Your grace. Thank You for showing us Your power when You saved the Israelites. Thank You for sending Jesus to save us from our sins. Remind us of these stories of Your incredible power when facing difficult times to help us to stand firm, knowing that You will fight for us. We ask these things in Jesus’ name, Amen.
